The following logic (previously posted) is flawed:
If the Church had the authority and divine inspiration to separate the inspired from the corrupted writings of the time, and compile them into a definitive canon, then why would people question that same Church's authority to difinitively teach from those writings? If one accepts the scriptures as autoratative, then one must also accept the Church that presented those writings as authoratative.
First of all your are assuming that The Catholic church had (1) Authority. They had ROMAN Authority only. (2) The Catholic church was inspired. They were inspired to CONTROL only; And they separated epistles based on personal desire and not divine inspiration. (3) The Catholic church canon was and is CULT-ish ( see: http://www.sabbatarian.com/MotherCult.html ) (4) The Catholic church taught (teaches) there own doctrine and NOT Scripture. They even forbade the personal ownership of Bibles. (5) The Bible and Scripture has been proven to have been corrupted by The Catholic church.
